CITES & Legal Compliance
At Hunter Nomadic Africa, we are fully committed to operating within the legal frameworks governing the trade and export of wildlife products. This page outlines our compliance with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and applicable Botswana wildlife regulations.
What is CITES?
CITES is an international agreement between governments that regulates the international trade of wild animals and plants to ensure that such trade does not threaten the survival of species. Botswana is a signatory to CITES, and all wildlife trade is governed accordingly.
Our Compliance Commitment
- All hunting activities conducted by Hunter Nomadic Africa are carried out under valid Botswana hunting permits issued by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP).
- All wildlife products (hides, trophies, and related items) are sourced legally and ethically in full compliance with Botswana's Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Act.
- CITES export permits are obtained for all applicable species prior to international shipment. Copies of relevant permits are provided to buyers upon request.
- Species listed under CITES Appendix I are not traded commercially. We only deal in species listed under Appendix II or non-listed species where legal trade is permitted.
Export Documentation
For international buyers, we provide the following documentation where applicable:
- CITES export permit (issued by Botswana DWNP)
- Hunting permit or proof of legal acquisition
- Phytosanitary or veterinary certificates (where required)
- Commercial invoice and packing list
It is the responsibility of the buyer to obtain any required CITES import permits in their country of residence. We strongly advise buyers to check their country's import regulations before placing an order.
EU Buyers — Important Notice
The European Union has specific regulations governing the import of wildlife products under EU Wildlife Trade Regulations (Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97). EU buyers may be required to obtain an import permit from their national CITES Management Authority before goods can be shipped. Hunter Nomadic Africa will provide all necessary export documentation to facilitate this process.
Restricted & Prohibited Species
We do not trade in any species that are:
- Listed under CITES Appendix I (commercially prohibited)
- Protected under Botswana national law without valid permits
- Subject to trade bans or moratoriums
